Project 1 also looked back on the weekend at the Nürburgring with satisfaction in the BMW M2 Cup

Leyton Fourie (Race 1) and Bart Horsten (Race 2) are the winners of the race weekend on the Eifel circuit, but actually the entire field is a winner. The conditions were difficult and challenging for the 17 talented drivers. Different general conditions, rapidly changing track conditions due to sun, cold and rain as well as tyre changes presented the drivers and also the mechanics with great challenges and at the same time ensured an exciting race course in which the gaps between the individual drivers were very small.

Driver coordinator Dario Pergolini said “The Project 1 training and coaching sessions could now be put into practice. If you want to become a professional racer, you also have to prove yourself under these tough conditions. In this respect, it is even beneficial that the weather conditions have turned out this way. The training sessions and experiences of the first races are a good basis for dealing with it. As coaches, we can now see how far a certain rider has come in his development. Likewise, we can assess who still needs help in certain conditions.”

In the overall standings of the BMW M2 Cup, Bart Horsten took the lead from Denny Berndt. Horsten now has 84 points, Saturday’s winner Leyton Fourie is second with 82 points, while Denny Berndt has dropped to third place with 79 points.
