Fog, drizzle and no visibility: The weather in the Eifel once again more than lived up to its reputation. The poor conditions meant that no on-track action was permitted, and the first race of the BMW M2 Cup had to be cancelled.

“Driver safety is our top priority,” said series manager Jörg Michaelis. “In these conditions it simply wasn’t possible to run a race, so we can fully understand the decision. Now we are hoping that tomorrow’s weather is better and that we can run race two as normal.”

The second race of the one-make trophy is due to start at 11:00 on Sunday, 28 August, at the Nürburgring. The grid for the race will be set by the second-fastest qualifying times.
